Toddler Halloween Costumes That Are Safe & Comfortable

By: Fred Tellier

Halloween is just around the corner, coming up on October 31, and it is important for you to let your toddler child have a chance at joining in on the Halloween festivities. Just because your toddler is not old enough to really understand the process of choosing their toddler Halloween costume and trick or treating door to door, or carving the Jack-o'-Lantern, or any of the lore or history behind this special occasion, that simply does not mean that they cannot be included with the adults and the older children who are celebrating as ghouls, ghosts, goblins, mummies and pirates.

Some of the most fun that an adult can have is helping a child to pick out their Halloween costume. You can help to make sure your child picks a toddler costume that will be safe as well as suitable for his or her age. You should also make sure that your toddler will be comfortable. When it comes down to it, simple costumes are usually the best to buy. Try to avoid costumes that are bulky and ones that have a lot of snaps or zippers.

You are going to want to keep both safety and comfort in mind when it comes to choosing toddler costumes. Halloween can be a big event for your toddler, and you are not going to want your son or daughter to be cranky because their costume is too warm, too bulky, or just uncomfortable in general.

Many people find that when dealing with small toddler costumes, it can actually be helpful for you to make some of the pieces. There is many different types of materials and objects that you can use when designing your child's costume. This will help you to ensure that your toddler will be happy and comfortable. You will find that most all toddler Halloween costumes come in a variety of shapes and sizes but some of the accessories may not be adjustable so that is where your creativity will come into play.

With so many styles and sizes to choose from, you can be sure to find something for even the pickiest of toddlers. If you have a son then you can go with such costumes as a pirate, Dracula, goblin or even a pumpkin. If you have a daughter she may want to be a pretty princess, a cheerleader, a girl pirate or even an angel.

There are definitely plenty of options available to your young children, giving them to chance to get into the Halloween spirit by dressing up the same way that the big kids do. Just make sure that you understand the differences in needs that exist between the children of different ages. While toddler Halloween costumes may be designed for comfort and safety in most cases that does not mean that you do not have to pay special attention to your young children on this momentous occasion.

You want to be sure to make this a safe and fun filed adventure for your toddler. Try to steer clear of the scary houses as this can turn your toddler off of Halloween and make it a horrible experience for him or her. Be sure to take a flash light with you and a fun sack for your toddler to keep their treats and prizes in. Watch your toddler for signs of irritability so that you will know when to call it a night. Your toddler will last much longer with toddler costumes that allow them freedom to move around without getting over heated. Edited by Hetsil Protage
