Learn How to Style Your Hannah Montana Halloween Costume

by Dawn Andrews

Want to find unique Hannah Montana Halloween costumes but can’t afford the time and effort it takes to make one from scratch? Well there is a solution.

Very few people have the time or talent to make an outfit from scratch. We all have busy lives. We work, do carpool, make dinner, run to the gym, and basically fill up every waking hour with chores. Who has the time or energy to worry about putting together a totally original Halloween costume. I prefer to buy one of the great costumes available on the web and then spend my time making the costume unique by styling it.

You can become the stylist and really “make” the outfit by concentrating on the hair, makeup and accessories. Have you ever watched Project Runway? While the designers were focusing on designing an amazing dress, they also needed to give their attention to hair and makeup. It was the entire ensemble and how well all the accessories complemented the outfit that had a big influence on the final judging. So let’s look at all the elements of becoming the best Hannah Montana for Halloween.

If your daughter has long blonde hair, she can wear it straight with bangs and you already have the Hannah Montana rock star hair. You can look at some pictures online and duplicate the Hannah Montana style that best fits your daughter.

If your daughter’s hair isn’t blonde, you might want to purchase a wig or buy some temporary hair color - usually a spray - that is available around Halloween. Go to your local CVs and you are sure to find one of those temporary spray in hair colors. A safer choice, in my opinion, is to buy a wig, or to buy a costume that comes with a wig. That way you can be certain to avoid any hair disasters that can strip away the fun of Halloween.

Always check to see what your costumes comes with before you go any further. But if it did not come with all the accessories, here is a plan. First, a must have is an oversized, sparkly metallic belt. This will add glitter to the Hannah Montana Halloween outfit. Find something that your daughter will want to wear with her regular clothes so you make the best use of your money. If you have a belt around that you are willing to decorate, you can go to any craft store and use some hot glue to decorate your belt with sequins or other sparkly decorations. Be sure you do not decorate the part of the belt that needs to go in the loop or it probably won’t fit through. If you do not have the right type of belt, then take a scarf and tie it in place of the belt. Tie it over a belt so it still looks like a belt and not just a scarf.

Jewelry helps make the outfit but be careful not to use too much jewelry. You want to “set” the outfit, not dominate it. The more sparkle in the actual clothing, the less jewelry should be worn. A cuff bracelet in a silvery or gold toned finish adds some sparkle without taking over.

You must get the makeup right so your young Hannah looks like she is a rock star ready to perform on stage. You don’t need to be a professional makeup artist to turn your daughter into Hannah Montana the rock star, but you do need a few makeup tips. Let’s start with the eyes. You need lots of lashes, so first find a nice volumizing mascara - put on several layers so your lashes really pop. Find some glittery eye shadows and a black eye liner. Create dark, smokey eyes by applying black eyeliner on the bottom and top of your eye. Smudge the liner, and apply brown, green, lilac or pink sparkly eye shadow. Finally, apply a little bit of the sparkly eye shadow to the bottom lashes and blend with the eyeliner.

Enjoy this time. Halloween can be a special bonding experience with your daughter. By showing her how to style outfits with just a little effort and not much money, you can be teaching her some valuable fashion lessons that will stay with her during her teen years.
